The City of South Bend’s Fall Leaf Pickup program will begin Monday, November 2. City crews will collect leaves neighborhood by neighborhood, street by street, through the end of the year, weather permitting.
Residents can view the first-round pickup schedule and follow crews using the City’s interactive leaf pickup map at //southbendin.gov/leafpickup. The map shows the status of leaf collection by zone and individual street. Residents can enter their address or zoom in on the map to find their location.
Crews will complete leaf collection in one zone before moving to the next. Depending on the volume of leaves, weather and other conditions, collection within a zone may take more days than planned. Residents do not need to call to request a pickup. Scheduled dates are weather permitting and subject to change, so residents are encouraged to check the website for the latest information.
At this time, the City is releasing pickup dates for the first round of collection only. The schedule for the second round will be announced at the end of November.
Leaf Pickup Guidelines
Residents are asked to follow these guidelines to help crews collect leaves safely and efficiently:
- Rake leaves to the tree lawn area, not into the street, by 6 a.m. on the scheduled set-out date.
- Keep leaf piles free of sticks, trash and other debris. Piles containing these materials will not be collected.
- Do not park vehicles on or directly in front of leaf piles along the curb, as this can prevent crews from collecting them.
- Leaf burning is prohibited by City ordinance.
Residents participating in the City’s Yard Waste program may also place leaves in their yard waste bins. Weekly yard waste collection continues through Thursday, December 3.
Residents with questions can call 311.
