A coroner says two men who died after a boating accident on a small LaPorte County lake have been identified as Michigan City residents.

Alonso Portwood, 48, and Robert Spikes, believed to be 58, died Sunday, March 14, after their boat capsized on a small lake south of Michigan City, said LaPorte County Coroner Lynn Swanson.

The two men’s bodies were found Sunday afternoon after someone called police about two men who had fallen into a private lake while fishing.

The cause of the men’s deaths has not been determined.
