The Middlebury Fire Station and Town Hall will be getting a makeover soon.
The Elkhart Truth reports that construction is set to begin on the $1.3 million project after a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday afternoon. Both floors of the existing 9,500 square-foot building on North Main Street will be renovated to create new firefighter living quarters, kitchen areas, offices and more.
The project has been in the works for several years to make the building, which has added 15 full-time firefighters, more efficient. It will happen in stages and should be finished by February. It was funded by a bond.
