Convicted home invasion prisoner claims he was mistreated in Elkhart County Jail

A man convicted at age 17 for his role in a violent home invasion has filed a lawsuit alleging he was mistreated in the Elkhart County Jail 10 years ago.

The Elkhart Truth reports 27-year-old Darnell Brown was sentenced to more than three decades in prison in 2012 after pleading guilty to burglary causing injury. He was the youngest of five people charged in connection with break-in at the home of an elderly disabled veteran who was beaten and was left with broken bones around his eyes and head and arm injuries.

The lawsuit says Brown was housed with adult offenders before being waived out of juvenile court and that he was beaten and robbed.

The suit names the jail, former-deputy Prosecutor David Francisco and former-Sheriff Brad Rogers. Brown says he wants changes made about how juveniles are waived to adult court.

He also wants money for the physical and mental damage he says he sustained.

Prisoner said, “was housed with adult offenders before being waived out of juvenile court and that he was beaten and robbed.”

Evidence says: “He was the youngest of five people charged in connection with break-in at the home of an elderly disabled veteran who was beaten and was left with broken bones around his eyes and head and arm injuries.”

This peer of his says, “TOO FRIGGEN BAD!” At 17you were old enough to know what you did was wrong, you participated in a heinous crime against an elderly citizen and you “got what you got” because you deserved it!

Is he actually looking for sympathy ?? Seriously, I feel beating up the elderly should be the death penalty so he had better enjoy his time and quit his crying… * Asking for money because he was robbed and got his butt whooped* plz this is prision… not the Ritz ! You deserve everything you get.
