Man facing several charges following Sunday shooting in South Bend

The suspect in a weekend shooting in South Bend is now facing several charges, including Attempted Murder.

Police were called to a home in the 700 block of South Lake Street early Sunday after a ShotSpotter notification.

A woman told police Max Perez, 23, was hiding inside the house. WSBT reports Perez was eventually detained and arrested.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Perez got into a fight with the mother of his child, grabbed a gun and started firing at the woman’s brother. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

He now faces charges of Attempted Murder, Criminal Recklessness, Domestic Battery and Resisting Law Enforcement.
