16-year-old boy killed in shooting on Fellows Street identified

We now know the name of the 16-year-old boy who was shot in the 1500 block of South Fellows Street and died.

Edwardo Rivera passed away at the hospital, hours after the Monday afternoon shooting.

Rivera was one of two people injured by gunfire. The other victim, a 17-year-old boy, received non-life-threatening injuries.

There is still no word of any arrests.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit issued the following update:

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit continues to actively investigate a shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon in the 1500 block of S. Fellows St, South Bend.

As previously released, a 16 year old male was taken to the hospital where he
subsequently died yesterday evening from his injuries. He has been identified, and his
family has been notified. The deceased 16 year old male has been identified as Edwardo
Rivera of South Bend.

An autopsy has been scheduled for April 14th, for Rivera in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

A second juvenile, a 17 year old male, was also taken to the hospital with gunshot
wound(s).

As of last update, he is in stable condition and expected to survive.

CMHU continues to actively investigate, and no arrests have been made nor charges filed
in connection with the investigation at this time.
