Indiana’s top elections official violated fundraising rules this week

The top elections official in Indiana has admitted violating state political fundraising rules when launching her 2022 election campaign.

Secretary of State Holli Sullivan requested contributions on Monday when she announced her campaign. That’s five days earlier than is allowed by the rule changes signed into law that day by Governor Holcomb.

Sullivan was appointed to the role by the governor in March and is also the Vice Chair of the state’s Republican Party.

Her campaign says they regret the error and the public solicitations have been removed, and all contributions have been returned.
