Teen girl, man, 22, arrested after high-speed chase in Berrien County

A 16-year-old girl and a 22-year-old man are in custody after leading police in Berrien County on a high speed chase early Wednesday morning, April 29, in Berrien Township.

Sheriff’s deputies say the vehicle matched the description of one that had fled from officers in Niles and Bridgman hours earlier during an investigation into potential thefts from cars.

Police say the pursuit approached speeds of 100 miles per hour and lasted around an hour. They say an officer was deploying stop sticks, when the suspect driver steered into the path of the officer, who jumped a guardrail to avoid being struck.

After a brief foot chase, Zachary Dawson Thain of Weesaw Township was arrested. The teen girl was placed into juvenile custody.
