Governor Eric Holcomb made a statement Monday as news of the death of three-time Indy 500 winner Bobby Unser was made public.
Holcomb said “The Unser name is synonymous with racing, and Bobby carried that legacy proudly.”
The governor said that Indiana loved watching him race and be a part of some special moments at the Indianapolis 500.
Unser passed away Sunday at his New Mexico home at the age of 87. He was the first driver to win the 500 in three different decades.
