Two arrests made after double shooting on South Bend’s northwest side

Two people were shot on South Bend’s northwest side.

Reports say gunfire happened around 2 o’clock Monday morning on May 10 at Fredrickson and Huey Streets.

Officers were called to the area of Huey and Frederickson where they saw a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed.

During the traffic stop, they located Marshawn Lovelady with gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body. He was taken to Memorial Hospital and treated for his non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly after, Johnnie Jones-Gunn arrived at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his lower body.

Investigators believe Lovelady and Jones-Gunn were involved in a verbal altercation that resulted in both pulling guns and shooting each other.

The two face charges of carrying a handgun without a license with a prior conviction and criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon.
