Newberg Township might reconsider stance on recreational marijuana businesses

Cass County’s Newberg Township opted out of the recreational marijuana business. Now they’re not so sure.

The township, home to the Swiss Valley Ski & Snowboard area, opted out in 2018 when recreational pot was legalized in Michigan. But a number of people showed up at Monday’s Township Board meeting supporting the idea of getting those businesses in the township.

The board says they continue to opt out based on feedback from past meetings, but WNDU reports with emotions running high Monday, residents might look to petition for a referendum. There is the potential that the question can appear in the November election.
