Trial date set for boy, 14, accused in death of Grace Ross, 6, of New Carlisle

A trial date has been set for a 14-year-old boy accused of killing a 6-year-old girl in St. Joseph County.

The body of 6-year-old Grace Ross, of New Carlisle, was found in March in the woods near her apartment complex. Ross had been strangled.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested for her death. He allegedly told police he was being controlled by a shadowy man who made him strangle Ross.

A trial date has been set for August 11, pending the outcome of a mental health hearing in July.
