A meeting Wednesday night will give parents in the South Bend Community Schools a chance to talk about late school buses and the shortage of drivers.
And despite the level of frustration among those parents…one one showed up for a similar meeting last Wednesday night.
WNDU reports that the district has about 145 bus drivers, and needs to hire 20-25 more to be fully staffed. The schools are competing with unemployment checks, making it difficult to fill the driver’s seats.
The district is considering a number of solutions, like different bell times, a collaboration with Transpo, and more.
Wednesday’s meeting is the final public forum.

I have stated this before as a senior manager retired. It is MORE IMPORTANT to support the students, get them to class safely and on time then to attend a meeting as a manager and eat doughnuts!! Every senior manager every manager in the South Bend Schools should be certificated as a bus driver. If you do not have enough drivers, you rotate as a manager in the mornings and afternoons and skip a meeting and drive a bus !! You are there to serve the parents and students Your paperwork and meetings can be done during class time .
“The schools are competing with unemployment checks, making it difficult to fill the driver’s seats.”
The schools are run by diehard lefties, how dare they disagree with what the leftist potato in the White House says? Biden says that the lavish unemployment benefits aren’t an issue, and you school admins need to stick to the party line!
