South Bend Police remove nearly two dozen guns off streets during past week

Heading into the long holiday weekend, South Bend Police announced that officers took at least 22 guns off the streets within the past week.

That brings the department’s total to 210 guns taken, since the start of the year.

Many of the guns were taken because they were in the hands of violent felons who are not legally allowed to have them. Some were taken because they were stolen. Others were taken because the person in possession of the firearm did not have a permit, according to a post on the South Bend Police Department Facebook page.
