There’s still time to apply for the 2021 Lamppost Lighting Program in South Bend.

The cost-share program offers easy self-install, solar-powered lampposts for residential front yards within city limits.

The City selected two target areas based on income, the number of vacant lots and the need for lighting in the neighborhood. Homeowners who live within target areas will pay a lower share of the total cost of the program:

  • Within target areas, homeowners pay 10% of total lamppost cost: $50
  • Outside target areas, homeowners pay 50% of total lamppost cost: $250

The last day to apply is Wednesday, June 30. For more information, click here.

South Bend Mayor James Mueller will install the first solar-powered lamppost at a resident’s home on S. Wellington Street on Wednesday, June 16 at 1 p.m.
