Man with fake license plate arrested after pursuit in South Bend

While on patrol in the area of Lincoln Way West/Lawndale, late Thursday night, June 17, South Bend Police identified a suspected stolen vehicle with a fake paper plate.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled and a pursuit ensued.

Officers terminated the pursuit out of an abundance of safety as the vehicle drove through people’s yards.

Shortly after, police located the vacated vehicle in the 900 block of LaSalle and through continued efforts, officers found the driver.

They also recovered more than $5,000 in cash, 2 phones, over 200 grams of Marijuana, and drug-dealing supplies.

Antwann Crawford, 28, was arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement, Possession of Marijuana, Dealing Marijuana, Reckless Driving, Criminal Recklessness, and Operating a Motor Vehicle while never being licensed.

This case has been sent to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.
