The Elkhart Truth reports during the start of the jury trial, Tuesday, Gillam’s best friend testified stating he witnessed an argument break out between Gillam and Carruthers on July 26, which turned into accusations of cheating.

The witness then testified that Carruthers went into the house and came back out with her hand behind her back. He told the jury he didn’t notice the knife until Carruthers started swiping at Gillam.

Carruthers then allegedly stabbed Gillam in the chest, driving the knife into his heart.

Gillam succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

The jury trial continues today, and MNC will continue to provide updates as they become available.
