Goshen man arrested after high speed chase with toddler in vehicle

A Goshen man is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase with an unsecured toddler in his car.

Alberto Rivera, 22, was arrested after the brief chase, on Saturday, June 19, on U.S. 33.

At the time, officers were trying to find a homicide suspect when they spotted Rivera driving a similar-style vehicle, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth.

They say Rivera took off and, at times, exceeded 90 miles per hour.

When the chase ended, the Elkhart Truth reports officers found a 3-year-old girl asleep in a car seat, though the police report states the girl didn’t have a belt on and the car seat wasn’t properly strapped in.

Police say they also found marijuana and a pipe.
