The City of Elkhart is offering an incentive to city workers who get the COVID-19 vaccine.

In an effort to increase the number of COVID-19 vaccines received by city employees, the City of Elkhart is offering two paid days off to workers who have already gotten the vaccine or get the shot before August 15.

Vaccine sites will be set up at various city departments starting Monday so unvaccinated workers can easily get their shot.

“We have come such a long way in our fight against COVID and with the ever-increasing presence of variants, vaccination is more important now than ever before. Anything we can do as a city to up our rates of vaccination, we are willing to try. Our staff members are essential and interact with the public on a daily basis. We have a responsibility to keep them and our residents as safe as possible. If giving someone a couple of days off incentivizes them to get vaccinated, that’s great,” said Mayor Rod Roberson.
