Elkhart Councilmen upset about the vaccine incentive

Two City Council members in Elkhart are challenging the legality of an executive order that was issued last week by Mayor Rod Roberson.

The order would give city employees, who are fully vaccinated, two additional paid days off.

The Elkhart Truth reports that councilmen David Henke and Kevin Bullard raised questions as to why the proposal was not sent to the city’s legislative body that decides how the city’s money will be spent, which is the City Council.

Henke stated that maybe the city is overstaffed if the city can give everyone two additional days off.
