Sheriff’s deputies in Cass County have arrested a suspect in a hit and run collision.

It happened just after 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, near Barron Lake Road and Cook Road.

Investigators say the suspect was driving northbound, spotted the victim’s vehicle and tried running into it. They say the suspect then sped up alongside the vehicle, side-swiped the car and then took off.

Deputies spotted the vehicle and tried pulling the driver over, but the suspect took off, then ditched the vehicle and ran off on foot.

Deputies deployed K-9 Faust and sniffed the suspect out in the woods in a child’s tree fort.

There were no injuries reported.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor, according to the sheriff’s office.
