Five people were arrested when a SWAT situation in Mishawaka came to an end.

The stand-off, on Tuesday afternoon, July 27, blocked traffic on Lincolnway West between Baker and Wells for several hours.

It began when two suspects were being watched by members of the South Bend Police strategic focus unit.

One of the subjects tried to drive away and the other ran into the house.

The driver who fled was quickly taken into custody.

SWAT members surrounded the home for nearly three hours before the remaining arrests were made.

There was no report of any injuries.

It was scary for a while. I live a block away from that corner. I knew of 4 arrests. I didn’t hear about the fifth. I just hope they give names. It seems like Mishawaka is always hush-hush about who in involved in any crime. South Bend would give their own family members up for the publicity!
