The Potawatomi Zoo announced this week that a flamingo chick has hatched.

The egg was laid by a bonded pair, Pinky and Boyfriend. However the staff decided to move the egg to another flamingo pair, Marinara and Carnation, who hatched the egg.

The chick, who’s sex is still undetermined, hatched on July 20.

Occasionally the chick can be seen in the flamingo house with its foster parents.

Within the next few days, the chick may begin venturing off the nest.

With baby flamingos, both the male and female parents share feeding and nesting duties.

As for Pinky and Boyfriend who originally laid the egg, eventually laid another egg. The zoo staff is now awaiting to see if it hatches.
