Distracted driving continues to be a problem for motorist across the state.

An all-too common sight on the road. You look over and see the driver next to you taking a call or worse, texting.

A new study from the Center for Injury and Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital has revealed just how dangerous it really is for drivers to handle cell phones while driving and how many lives can be saved through hand-free laws.

The study estimates that bans on hand held devices would prevent at least 14,000 injuries and 140 driver deaths per year is the U.S.

Teen drivers remain at the highest risk from distracted driving.

Currently, only 21 states, including Indiana have hands free law.
