Fort Wayne International Airport was evacuated Friday afternoon due to threats that were received via telephone.
Our Partners in News at ABC 21 report that airport officials did not confirm the nature of the threat.
The Airport’s Twitter account said the facility was evacuated shortly before 3:30 p.m. due to “a potential threat to airport and passenger safety and security.”
FWA has received a potential threat to airport & passenger safety and security. Airport public safety has responded to the threat & passengers & airport staff have been evacuated. Local mutual aid has been deployed & responded.

An employee at a car rental company called the Newsroom of our sister station WOWO and reported that all passengers, employees and TSA representatives had evacuated the airport at the order of police.
WPTA is reporting the evacuation was due to a suitcase making a strange noise.
