UPDATE 4:10 p.m. – Airport officials have announced that the terminal building has reopened, and passengers will be able to enter soon.

Original story:

Fort Wayne International Airport was evacuated Friday afternoon due to threats that were received via telephone.

Our Partners in News at ABC 21 report that airport officials did not confirm the nature of the threat.

The Airport’s Twitter account said the facility was evacuated shortly before 3:30 p.m. due to “a potential threat to airport and passenger safety and security.”

An employee at a car rental company called the Newsroom of our sister station WOWO and reported that all passengers, employees and TSA representatives had evacuated the airport at the order of police.

WPTA is reporting the evacuation was due to a suitcase making a strange noise.
