Possible child abuse case under investigation in Van Buren County

The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a possible case of child abuse in Almena Township.

Sheriff’s deputies were called around 7:40 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 7, to a home on a report of an unresponsive child.

They arrived to find a babysitter performing CPR.

Deputies began life saving measures and the child was taken to a hospital where she remains in critical condition.
