Near date set for competency hearing for teen accused in New Carlisle killing

There is a new date for the competency hearing of a St. Joseph County teenager charged with killing a 6-year-old girl.

The hearing was set for Thursday, Aug. 12, but it has been moved to Nov. 17.

Grace Ross was found dead in the woods in New Carlisle in March.

The teenager told police a shadowy man told him to choke Ross to death.

The hearing will determine whether he has the mental capacity to stand trial in December.
