Three teenagers were hurt in a crash involving a fallen tree.

Sheriff’s investigators say the driver of a 2009 Scion HB was traveling southbound when the vehicle hit a large tree that was strewn across the road.

It happened on Thursday, Aug. 12, on on County Road 1, south of Arizona Avenue, in Elkhart County.

The driver and two passengers were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

The crash was the second such collision involving a downed tree.

Andrew Sickels was riding a motorcycle in the 2800 block of Henke Street, Wednesday night, in Elkhart when he struck a tree that had fallen onto the road.

Sickels died at the scene.
