Two firefighters were injured while fighting a South Bend house fire on Tuesday.

It happened around on Lawndale at a two-story home just north of Lincolnway on the northwest side.

No one was home and only one of the family’s two pets was accounted for. The two firefighters were taken to the hospital suffering from heat exhaustion.
