One of the first companies in the world to patent a smart mailbox designed for secure drone delivery, is gearing up to demonstrate the future of packaging on Thursday, August 26, by flying burritos from Lakeville to South Bend.
Drone pilots will deliver hot burritos from Leo’s Family Restaurant to a DroneDek mailbox at an American Legion Post on Sample Street.
Jamie Dominquez from Leo’s is an early investor in DroneDek and that’s why the company chose that restaurant to help demonstrate the delivery.
The demonstration hopes to show how the mailbox can keep products hot as well as showing its security and accessibility.
DroneDek secured the first patent on the smart mailbox, beating out Amazon and the United States Postal Service by days.
