The Buttigieg’s announced the births of their son and daughter on Saturday.

South Bend’s former mayor, now the U.S. Transportation Secretary, and his husband Chasten say their adopted children were born on over the weekend.

The adoption process isn’t finalized yet, according to a social media post from Mayor Pete, but the couple announced a month ago that they were in the process of becoming first-time parents.

The couple were married in 2018 and have been trying to adopt for a year. The new members of the family are named Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg.
