Benton Harbor school students will enjoy new clean water systems this year

Students at Benton Harbor High School will enjoy some new clean water stations this year when they get thirsty.

The new filtered water refill stations were installed in a joint effort by Nalgene Outdoor, a reusable water bottle company, the non-profit group Freshwater Future and the Benton Harbor Community Water Council.

ABC 57 reports that recent tests showed elevated lead levels in Benton Harbor’s drinking water, which has been an ongoing issue.

The project looks to install eight filtered water refill stations around the school district by the fall.
