Speed and alcohol might be factors in a crash that killed a 19-year-old South Bend man and injured four other people in Cass County.

The collision happened around 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, on Mason Street near the intersection of Gordon Road in Mason Township.

On arrival, deputies found a 2004 Saturn Ion on its roof in a field.

The passengers, three 18-year-olds from Edwardsburg and a 19-year-old from Cassopolis, were transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with injuries.
