Arrest made in connection to injury shooting on Diamond Avenue in South Bend

An arrest has been made in connection with a shooting that took place in the 1200 block of Diamond Avenue in South Bend.

Police were called around 4:45 p.m. on Tue. Oct. 5, after a call about shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to his lower extremities.

Investigators say the victim was shot during a verbal altercation with another individual, identified as Jacquese Thomas.

Thomas was arrested on preliminary charges of battery with deadly weapon, criminal recklessness, and carrying a handgun without a license.
