An arrest has made after a two-week police effort investing the thefts of catalytic converters in Michiana.

Friday, the Elkhart Police Department said they had arrested 49 year-old James Schram of Westville.

In the early morning hours of October 2 police chased a suspect vehicle that ended with the vehicle jumping the curb and crashing into St. Vincent Cemetery. A cut catalytic converter and tools were in the vehicle. Schram, the driver, was arrested and has now been formally charged with felony and misdemeanor counts.

The EPD is still looking for information about bought or stolen catalytic converters in the area, and the investigation is ongoing.
