Goshen police officer resigns, awaits trial on domestic battery charges

A Goshen police officer awaiting trial on domestic battery charges has resigned.

The Elkhart Truth reports the Goshen Board of Works accepted Joshua Owens’ resignation this week.

Back in the spring, Owens was placed on unpaid leave after he was arrested on charges of strangulation and domestic battery in the presence of a child.

That stemmed from an incident, last November.

The alleged victim told investigators that during the incident, Owens came home late and intoxicated.

The two began to argue and Owens allegedly aimed his service weapon at the woman’s head. He then placed the barrel of the gun in his own moth and asked her to kill him.

Two children were in the home at the time.
