Driver arrested after leading police on chase on I-80/94 while driving on bare rims

A driver was arrested in Chesterton, after trying to lead a chase while driving on bare rims.

The chase began late Friday night, Oct. 15, when a 911 caller reported seeing a car driving with no wheel on one of the rims near the Broadway exit in Gary.

When a trooper tried to pull the car over, the driver refused and just kept going.

That resulted in a pursuit.

During the chase, a second wheel came off the rim, but the driver kept going.

The driver was eventually arrested after tire deflation devices were deployed.
