Goshen Railroad crossing improvements gets contractual greenlight

City leaders in Goshen are hoping improvements to two train crossings can finally begin.

Now that the Goshen Board of Works approved a coordination contract with the Indiana Department of Transportation on Monday.

The intent of both Beaver Lane and Madison Street crossing projects is to improve safety of the crossing. Additionally, as part of the city’s application, a railroad quiet zone along the 9th Street corridor.

The Elkhart Truth reports that not many specifics are known yet, such as a timeline for the projects, because the crossing improvements are currently being designed by railroad staff.
