Valparaiso man wounded during shootout with police

A Valparaiso man has been wounded during a shootout with police.

Porter County Police arrived at a home of 58-year-old James Filby, Wednesday afternoon, with a warrant for his arrest.

The warrant for Filby included charges of child molesting, vicarious sexual gratification, attempted sexual battery and sexual battery.

Filby met the officers outside the home before pulling out a gun.

Shots were fired by both Filby and an officer. Filby was airlifted to a hospital in Chicago.
