Porter County police officer struck by drunk driver while issuing a ticket

An officer in Porter County was preparing to write a ticket for a car blocking a bank access drive, when the car was hit by a drunk driver.

That driver, 27-year-old Jackson Newenhouse, was taken to the Porter County Jail and faces several counts of driving while intoxicated.

Police say it happened just after 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21.

The officer pulled up behind the car blocking the access to the bank, when Newenhouse crashed into it.
