Discount Tire is purchasing Tire Rack.

They are two of the largest tire suppliers in the U.S. and now they are joining forces.

According to the motor vehicle news site, The Drive, the newly-combined management team believes it can make a bigger impact as a team than as competitors.

The Elkhart Truth reports with rubber supply challenges and price increases, the merger could mean a stronger base for the two suppliers.

Locally, Tire Rack is also known for it’s Street Survival program, which teaches teens how to be better drivers.

The company was founded in Indiana, back in 1979, by Peter Veldman.
