An Elkhart man was sentenced to 46 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and admitted to being a habitual offender and a sexually violent predator.

Michael Middaugh, 52, will serve his sentence for sex crimes committed in Marshall County after he serves a 30-year sentence in a separate case for sex crimes committed against an elderly woman in Bristol.

Prosecutors say, in the Marshall County case, Middaugh bound a young Bremen mother with zip ties, then raped her repeatedly while the victim’s two-year-old child was present in the home.

ABC 57 News reports at the time of the crime, Middaugh was a registered sex offender who was non-compliant and was wanted on a probation violation.

Instead of 46 years in jail he should have gotten a 45 caliber to the dome.
