Every Indiana county in the 95-3 MNC listening area is now in the red zone on the Indiana COVID color-coded map. In fact, most counties in north-central and northeastern Indiana are now in the red zone, according to the update provided by the Indiana State Department of Health on Wednesday, Dec. 8.

That’s due to the dramatic rise in virus numbers in recent weeks. In St. Joseph County, the 7-dya positivity rate is more than 16% and rising. In Elkhart County, it’s more than 19% and rising, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

An additional 5,315 Hoosiers tested positive for COVID, according to the report on Wednesday, Dec. 8, from the state health department.

80 new COVID deaths have been reported as well. 51 of them occurred within the last week. In total, 17,310 Hoosiers have died from the virus since the pandemic started.

2,755 people are currently in Indiana hospitals with the virus. That’s the most since Jan. 8.

The surge in COVID-19 cases isn’t confined to Indiana. In Berrien County in Michigan, the rate of COVID cases now tops 25% according to county health officials.

Covid has really hurt our country. And its continuing to hurt us everyday. Mothers, Grandmothers, fathers, children our teachers, our caregivers many families and its not letting up! If you are not vaccinated where your mask people cover your kids and your family! This covid is no joke and its traveling and we are losing to this virus. It scares me so bad that i truly limit going outside to public places. I am seeing people get vaccinated, yet we have a rise in indiana how? Because alot of us is not taking it seriously and alot of us is trusting going in public without masking up. And alot of us is spreading it. What can we do? Our children is our future and yet they are dying with this virus. Where are we headed? Now there is another virus omicron we are fighting covid and hear comes another virus that has swept its way to us! Now what? Will there be another vaccine? We have to figure out how to beat this before…. There is nothing and noone left. This is our country we need to sweep this virus out of here!!!!!!

Thank the ChiComs.

Also, if only I had known that the facial doily would be effective against chemical and biological agents while in the military…it would be so much easier to carry and wear than an actual gas mask that would, you know, stop biological agents…SMH.

When I was young, there was a joke we told. A man is on a bus and another man, a stranger, came up and hits him in the nose. The first man said, “Hey, why did you do that?” The second man stated, “I’m exercising my free will.” To which the first man replied, “Your free will stops where my nose begins.”

If you choose to not follow CDC guidelines, stay away from my nose (my space). This season we lost my daughter’s father-in-law to COVID even though he was vaccinated. However, people who came around him were not. At 80+, he succumbed. My great-grandchildren all had COVID. My grandson had to have them tested and vaccinated when they could be. His ex-wife’s family did not believe in wearing masks or vaccinations even though her father, with whom she lives, had gotten COVID. With shared custody, the children suffered.

So, believe what you want but have the decency to respect other people’s right to be healthy and stay alive.
