The suspect in two September robberies involving the victims being pepper-sprayed has been identified as a South Bend man.

Police say 51-year-old Steven Martin is charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of theft stemming back from two incidents that took place on Sep. 27 in Goshen.

The first happened at an Ulta Beauty store on Midway Road.

According to The Elkhart Truth, security footage show Martin walking out of the store with two hair dryers and several bottles of cologne.

As Martin attempted to make a get away, a store employee approached Martin’s black jeep in which he pepper spray her.

Officers arrived to gather information when a similar incident occurred at the Meijer involving a male with a black jeep. Investigators believe Martin was involved in the robberies at the two stores.
