Local unemployment rate historically low

The local unemployment rate is historically low.

It’s 1.4% in Elkhart County and 2.3% in St. Joseph County.

Both counties are below the state average at 3%.

The national average at 4.2%.

Despite the low rate, now hiring signs can be seen are most retail stores, restaurants, manufacturing facilities and more.
