Goshen man, 19, arrested, three others hurt after police chase, crash in Elkhart

A 19-year-old Goshen man was arrested and three other teenagers were injured after Elkhart County Police say he led officers on a chase which ended with a crash.

The pursuit happened around 4 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 24. Officers say Maliek Long was fleeing from law enforcement westbound on Jackson Street approaching Main Street in Elkhart when he collided with a traffic light pole.

Long sustained left arm pain and was transported to the hospital. He was then taken to the Elkhart County Jail for operating while intoxicated and resisting law enforcement.

Two other 19-year-olds and a 17-year-old who were passengers in the vehicle suffered head pain and were also taken to the hospital.

Long was also issued was issued citations for driving while suspended prior, no insurance, and driving too fast for weather conditions.
