Person of interest in custody after double shooting death in Benton Harbor

UPDATE: A person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting deaths of two people in the 700 block of Buss Street in Benton Harbor on Friday, Dec. 24, according to the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety.

Police had been searching for Dwand Dontrell Carter in connection to the case.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two people were found shot to death in Benton Harbor.

Ir was around 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 24, when officers of the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety were called to the 700 block of Buss Street for an investigation of gunfire.

Officers arrived on the scene to investigate and discovered two bodies in a vehicle. The two victims, a 37-year-old female, and a 38-year-old male, both Benton Harbor residents were dead at the scene.
