Man killed after car was struck by train in Marshall County

A car was hit by a train in Marshall County.

“This train was traveling westbound. We’re unsure of the speed,” said Marshall County Coroner John Grolich, talking to reporters. “The vehicle that was struck by the train was traveling south on Quince Road.”

About 4 p.m. Monday, the train and car collided.

“One person in the vehicle, appears to be a male in his early 60s, all appearances are that he was dead on impact,” said Grolich.

The investigation into the crash is continuing, but police were unsure why the man drove onto the tracks.

“Either because of not being able to see the flashing lights or ice on the road, we’re not sure which, he traveled into the travel portion of the railroad and was struck by the train.”
