There’s good news for residents of LaPorte County.

Indiana’s Broadband Office has designated the county an official Broadband Ready Community. The designation is expected to stimulate a $130 million private sector investment, according to Inside Indiana Business. LaPorte County officials say the pandemic put “a glaring spotlight” on the need for better internet access in the area, and add that they are focused on finding solutions and strategies to provide LaPorte county residents with access to high-speed broadband.

Last year, 18 communities around the state received the special designation.
