Man arrested after police say he attacked his father

A man was arrested after police say he attacked his father and damaged his dad’s home.

St. Joseph County Police were called on New Year’s Day on the report of a domestic dispute.

When they got to the home, they found the father with an injury below his eye and bruises on his arm.

The man said his son, Nicholas Mentock, punched him in the face, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Officers also found a staircase railing destroyed, holes in walls, a bedroom door, and an axe and knives embedded in the walls. Officers found Mentock armed with a box cutter.

He stands charged with domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury and criminal mischief.
